Thanks from Alice – On behalf of my family, I would like to thank the parishioners of St. John’s who were so incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and caring in preparing for Marvin’s funeral. They worked unceasingly in preparing the grounds and moving chairs and tables everywhere to accommodate the service and the reception. Anne and Bert were at the church at the crack of dawn with her sister Jenny, husband Tom and their son Wes. Don worked tirelessly on the service leaflet as well as moving furniture. Marcella was on top of everything in her quiet manner so that the service went seamlessly. Lynn prepared the altar and all the bright flowers while Charles helped to clean up the grounds. Didn’t the Kirkpatricks read beautifully! Never better. I know that all these folks were at the church several times during the week. It was a more beautiful celebration of Marvin’s life than I could have hoped. To all the good people of St. John’s, you have my deepest thanks. Marvin would have been very pleased.
For Les, who led the service, you were never a better pastor. Thank you for the lovely homily and all the effort that went in to recording the hymns and making this service so meaningful and personal.

Vestry Election 2021 – There will be a Vestry election at the end of this year. We will retire one position and seat a Vestry of three people, plus the Rector. However, the Vestry election will fill the remainder of Leone’s term and fill for a term ending in 2024. If you are willing to serve, please contact the Rector.

Worship Service video – A post-production video of worship will be on our YouTube channel on Sunday afternoon. A link to the video will be provided separately. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Fall Clergy Conference – The Rector will be at the Fall Clergy Conference at Camp Chanco October 26-27. He will be available in case of emergency during that time.

Parish Hall Hazards – Please be aware there are hazards on the east and north side of the Parish House. The ground has been disturbed and will be repaired after the roof is complete.
The chestnut trees have started to drop nuts. There may be trip hazards under and around the two trees for the coming weeks. Please be careful where you walk and park in front of the Parish House.

Salvation Army Christmas 2021 – The Salvation Army Suffolk will be holding their Christmas drives. More information is forthcoming.

Parish House reshingling – There has been a slight delay in completing the reshingling of the Parish House. The first estimate for completion is early- to mid-October.

Questions to consider – (1) What gifts have we, as individuals or as a church, been given to share with our community? (2) Who do we have contact with that we can share our church with?

Thought for the weekHealing: All healing is God’s healing. Use the channels for wellness that you find inviting and accessible. Pray for healing, in whatever form it may come. Pray for healing, and then look for it.
