Happy Sunday on the bonus Sunday of July (5th Sunday). It’s a beautiful time of year and would be better if we could catch a break from the rain. But the muggy weather has not dampened the spirits of the Parish, we gathered to worship, to share our prayers for one another and our community, and to hear the timeless messages of scripture. Our time together on Sunday is one where we are fed and challenged to see God in our world, especially in the coming weeks.
In worship we heard a variety of stories: David and his #MeToo moment with Bathsheba and Uriah; the Ephesians being reminded of the true source of power in their lives; and the crowd and disciples learning about God’s grace first hand. Jesus helps us not only see the things that are present, 5,000+ hungry people listening to his every word; storms of life, without any apparent hope for success; and a daunting journey being exposed to the world and the challenges of relationships with others (not like us). We are invited to emulate Jesus and see beyond what we see into what is possible in God’s kingdom.
I invite your comments,
Les+
