Sunday Worship – The Rector will celebrate Spiritual Communion on premiered on YouTube this Sunday at 10:30 am. A link will be forthcoming for worship. Please join us on Sunday. We will also have a Zoom Coffee hour at 11:30 am. The link will be distributed separately.

In-person Gathering Discussion – Earlier this week, the Governor published the guidelines for religious services in preparation for Phase I reopening of the State. There will be greater detail about how we will do church in the coming weeks. If you desire to offer input, please contact the Rector.

Delegate and Alternate for FY 2021 – We need to elect one Parish Delegate and Alternate to serve July 1, 2020 through June 20, 2021. If you are interested in serving or need more information about requirements, please contact the Rector.

Regathering for in-person Worship – As we prepare to regather for in-person worship there will likely be some changes to our practices. The Bishop is working with a group to address a variety of things which will include music and singing, the practice of the Communion, recommendations about gathering the offering and others. Something to consider from a United Universalist group can be found at this link: Church in Uncertain Times.

Treasurer Resignation – Susan has served as Treasurer for number of years. She has tendered her resignation effective January 2021 (although she will assist with the audit). To prepare for the transition, she will train an assistant for the remainder of 2020 in the procedures for the position. If you are interested in serving, please contact the Rector.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. If we can get at least 100 subscribers on the channel we will get a unique URL to make our site easier to find. Please subscribe and have your friends subscribe at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Prayer and Worship in Our Homes – ChurchNext (an online learning portal) is offering a free course entitled Prayer and Worship in Our Homes through their website http://churchnext.tv. This is a good course that will help everyone navigate their prayer and worship in this time of social distancing (and beyond). Please consider taking this course (along with me), it is enlightening for those who are looking for the next steps in their practice of faith.

Suspension of Church Activities – The suspension of activities has been extended until May at the earliest. Please join us for worship on Sunday mornings which are lived streamed on our YouTube channel (St John’s Chuckatuck) and available on our Facebook page too. We also offer Morning and Evening prayer most days during the week through YouTube. Also, if you are able, please continue to keep your pledge as current as possible – there are still expenses that need to be paid.

Formation Classes – Are suspended until further notice.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year. Please remember, flowers cost $100 for 2 weeks.

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Upcoming Parish Events – Suspended until further notice.

Thought for the weekMission: God’s invitation for us to abide in God as God abides in us is not an invitation to settle down and get comfortable. It is a call to mission, a summons to fruitfulness. We are meant to share the fruits of the divine life with others.
